Paying off your balance

If you have an outstanding balance that you want to clear on your credit card account, you may find it useful to set a repayment plan. This may mean you either set a time frame when you hope to clear your debt, or decide on a specific amount to pay each month.

Unforeseen circumstances, such as loss of employment, may mean that you cannot afford to make your repayments. Savings can help you through such times. However, If you do have problems there is practical advice in the Having trouble with your debt section.

Think carefully before withdrawing cash on one credit card to pay off another. Doing this on a regular basis means that you are not paying off any of your debt and are incurring charges each time you do it.
