Our aims and objectives

The aims and objectives of The UK Cards Association are summarised below:

  • Promote best practice across the card payment industry
  • Work to influence card industry and credit industry issues
  • Seek to change perceptions of the UK card payments industry
  • Offer specialised knowledge on card payments issues
  • Be acknowledged as the definitive source for key management information and industry statistics
  • Represent industry views to Government, the European Commission; regulators; the media; and other influential stakeholders

On behalf of our members, we strive to:

  • Build the future of the card payments industry, facilitating innovation in line with members’ requirements
  • Facilitate collaboration on non-competitive industry wide issues including fraud prevention and security; public relations and public affairs; responsible lending and data sharing; rollout of infrastructure etc
  • Represent and clearly promote the views and interests of its members
  • Champion its members as drivers of business and commerce
  • Reinforce its members’ reputation and project a positive industry image
  • Maintain the UK’s leading position in the development of card payments globally
  • Build alliances and relationship with key decision makers and opinion formers
  • Highlight to key stakeholders the economic importance of card payments to commerce in the UK
  • Facilitate its members’ views in to Europe and internationally
  • Provide one, consistent voice for its members
  • Act as a trusted advisor to legislators and regulators (as much as any partisan trade association can)
