About us

The UK Cards Association is the trade association for the card payments industry in the UK. Our membership includes all major credit, debit and charge card issuers, and card payment acquirers (the latter of which enable businesses to accept card payments). The Association provides a clear and cohesive industry voice to the outside world; develops industry standards and best practice; safeguards the integrity of card payments by tackling card fraud; and co-ordinates other industry-wide initiatives relating to card payments and the provision of credit.

Our primary function is to facilitate co-operation between industry participants on matters of mutual interest (within the constraints of Competition Law) and to provide a clear and cohesive industry voice to the outside world. We provide a forum for our members to come together on non-competitive issues relating to the payments industry.

The UK Cards Association is the card payments industry voice on a wide range of topics, acting as the card industry’s representative within Europe and the world. In doing this, we develop and evolve industry best practices; contribute to the development of legislative and regulatory agendas; and ensure there is integrity within card payments by tackling card fraud, developing industry standards and coordinating other industry-wide initiatives.
