Manifesto
The UK Cards Association and Financial Fraud Action UK are calling on Parliamentarians to help us deliver the following public policy priorities to ensure the strongest levels of consumer protection and maximise support for vulnerable customers:
- Support a nationwide campaign to warn consumers and businesses of the dangers of scams
- Remove legal barriers preventing the sharing of data on fraud and money laundering
- Facilitate access to additional data, such as student loans and Government records, to support responsible lending
- Ensure the credit industry forbearance framework, designed to support consumers in financial difficulties, is matched by comparable standards across other sectors, such as HMRC, local authorities and utilities
- Remove barriers and encourage collaboration in areas where commercial hurdles prevent innovation in the interests of consumers, e.g. contactless cards in transport
- Assess regulation for consistency and proportionality across the range of bodies with overlapping responsibilities, including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)
- Engage pro-actively with EU and international bodies to ensure interventions do not inhibit the ability of the UK market to compete globally
